Giants vs. Rockies, MLB Scores: Bumgarner Gets Fifth in a Row, Giants Win 9-1

It seemed like just yesterday that the San Francisco Giants were in first place, and Madison Bumgarner was 0-6. Now the G-Men barely have a playoff pulse while Bummy has worked his record back to even par, and behind three bombs got his fifth win in a row by the score of 9-1.

Bumgarner (W 12-12) pitched very well in seven innings pitched this evening, allowing only one unearned run on six hits. He walked one and struck out three along the way, throwing 97 pitches and leaving with a very comfortable lead. It was his first career victory over Colorado too, another little monkey off his back.

Brandon Belt started the offense out with a two run bomb in the second, his seventh on the year, followed by a Cody Ross solo shot in the fifth, his 100th of his career. Ross would add a RBI single in the sixth, but left later that inning with a strained hamstring.

From there Madison Bumgarner helped himself, hitting a two run double over the head of Dexter Fowler, followed by an RBI single from Brandon Crawford. Chris Stewart would put the icing on the cake though, blasting his second homer of the season in the seventh.

Most of the rookies would come in after the seventh, though one familiar face made his first appearance in quite a while. Thats right, we had a Barry Zito sighting in the ninth, working a scoreless frame with one hit and one strikeout.

With the win the Giants move to 81-70, and are now on a six game winning streak. Full box score can be found here.
