Burrell has been dealing with a bone spur in his foot that will eventually require surgery that may possibly end his career. But after some rest and rehabilitation Burrell is healthy enough to play, but is fighting through some pain still. He likely will be used mostly to pinch hit, but with the loss of Nate Schierholtz he may see some time in the outfield as well.

As for Pill, he is batting .341 for Triple-A Fresno this season, along with 25 homers and 107 RBI, something the Giants hope will continue when he gets to the show.
