The San Francisco Giants’ are running out of time to catch the D’backs, and need ever hand on deck from here on in. Luckiy for them, they might be getting a key piece back much sooner than later.
Right-handed specialist Sergio Romo has been showing some positive signs on his road to recovery, pitching pain-free for the last few days now. Romo is set for a rehab assignment with the team’s Arizona League squad down in Scottsdale, and if all goes well is scheduled to be activated from the DL on Sunday.
And with Brian Wilson looking like he will be taking longer than first hoped dealing with his sore elbow, the return of Romo becomes even more important. Skipper Bruce Bochy has been using a battery of relievers in the closing role since Wilson’s departure, but with the reinstallation of Romo the skip has another cannon in the repertoire until the bearded savior can return.
