Injured Giants Closer Brian Wilson Recovering, May Play Catch On Thursday

The San Francisco Giants are in a bit of a rut right now. They've lost 12 of their last 18 games and need to get back on track if they wish to win the NL West. Relief could be coming in the form of closer Brian Wilson, who may play catch on Thursday as he continues to recover, according to Andrew Baggarly.

Wilson hurt his elbow during an Aug. 15th game against the Atlanta Braves, which the team went on to lose 5-4 after Wilson surrendered three runs in the bottom of the ninth. He was placed on the DL this past Sunday and seems to be making progress toward returning.

The Giants could certainly use him right now. The team needs to turn things around and get back to their winning ways before they fall too far behind the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West. Thankfully, help seems to be on the way. The team should get outfielder Carlos Beltran, who has been out for several weeks, back at some point over the next few days. It looks like Wilson should also return soon, which will bolster the Giants bullpen moving into the final stretch of the season.
