After falling short on the Independence Day the San Francisco Giants are looking to redeem themselves against the San Diego Padres this evening at AT&T Park.
Despite the relative offensive success of Aaron Rowand as of late skipper Bruce Bochy will put Andres Torres back in the starting lineup, leading off and playing center field. Rowand will start in left field, and is 7-25 over the last seven days, including three doubles and three RBI’s. Torres is 1-19 with 1 RBI, and is 0-7 lifetime against Padres starter Tim Stauffer. But the skip is one seldom to be second-guessed, so I’m sure he knows what he’s doing.Plus the Giants are an outfielder short with the injury to Cody Ross.
Miguel Tejada will get a rare start at second base, while Brandon Crawford will bat second, likely to try and get his bat going early. Aubrey Huff will bat clean-up, Nate Schierholtz will be in right, batting sixth, while Eli Whiteside will be behind the dish to catch Matt Cain in his first start of the year against the Pads.
