The Great American Ballpark is a great place to enjoy a ballgame (so I'm told), but the last few games for the Cincinnati Reds at their home ballpark have been less than amusing to them. They're coming off a four game sweep at the hands of the New York Mets (sans Carlos Beltran) as they get set to host the defending champion San Francisco Giants and All-Star Ryan Vogelsong Friday night.
Vogelsong's (8-1 2.10 ERA) last three outings have all come at AT&T Park, but will be taking his show on the road this evening in Cincy. Vogey is coming off his eighth win of the season against the Brewers, lasting for five innings of two run ball with seven hits and two punch outs. He pitched against the Reds back in the beginning of June, getting a no decision for his six innings of two run ball against them.
The Reds will send out Dontrelle Willis (0-1 3.71 ERA) tonight, who spent part of the year in 2010 with in Giants minor league system. This is his third start of the year for Cincinnati, taking a no decision in his last outing against the Braves after allowing three runs in seven innings of a 4-3 Reds come from behind win.
Carlos Beltran will be eyeing his first hit as a Giant after going 0-4 in his debut Thursday in Philadelphia. Beltran is 1-6 at the Great American Ballpark this year with two RBI, three runs scored, and three walks.
First pitch is set for 4:10 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area, MLB Network and KNBR 680 AM.
