Another on bites the dust for the San Francisco Giants.
The San Francisco Giants have placed infielder Miguel Tejada on the disabled list with a lower abdominal strain. Tejada had an MRI taken Tuesday afternoon that revealed the strain to be worse than first thought. The move will ensure that San Francisco won’t have to send catcher Hector Sanchez back to the minors.
In other news, skipper Bruce Bochy said that the team will skip Barry Zito’s next scheduled start against the Brewers on Friday. Matt Cain will take his place, but will still pitch on regular rest due to an off day Thursday. Zito was rocked in San Diego on Saturday, giving up eight earned runs in just three and 2/3 innings, and has a less than stellar track record against the Brew Crew (2-4 4.73 ERA lifetime).
Lastly, Brandon Belt hit his first home run at AT&T Park in the second inning of Tuesday’s game, his second of his major league career.
