Giants vs. Dodgers, Starting Lineups: Brandon Belt Recalled from AAA Fresno, Starts at First Base

The San Francisco Giants have had a flurry of roster moves already today, with the biggest news the acquisition of infielder Jeff Keppinger from the Astros. But some more important news for Giants fans (and the Giants offense hopefully) is that they have recalled Brandon Belt from triple-A Fresno and will start at first base tonight.

Belt was the Pacific Coast League player of the week for July 14-17, Belt had an off-the-charts .632 on-base-percentage, and hit the game-winning HR in the Grizzlies’ 3-2 win on July 14. In 43 games for the Grizz this season, Belt is batting .324 with seven home runs and 29 RBI.

The Giants also sent catcher Hector Sanchez back to Fresno today. He saw time in only three games with the Giants, going 0-3 with a walk.

As for the lineup tonight Mike Fontenot will be at second, batting second, while Nate Schierholtz will bat clean up once again and start in right field. Brandon Crawford will start at shortstop, while Eli Whiteside will be behind the dish to catch Madison Bumgarner this evening.
