MLB All-Star Game 2011: Brian Wilson Sends Invite to Carlos Beltran During NL Lineup Announcement

Before the National League took the field for the first time Tuesday night during the 2011 MLB All-Star game San Francisco Giants closer was picked to announce their starting lineup on the FOX telecast. When Wilson got around to mentioning current New York Met Carlos Beltran, he basically extended an olive branch from the Giants to him and the possibility of being traded to the defending World Champions.

I'm paraphrasing here, but Wilson mentioned the rumors surrounding Beltran and his possible move to the Black and Orange, saying that he and the Giants would be more than happy to welcome him to the squad. Here's a telling tweet from CSN Bay Area's Ray Ratto:

Congratulations to Brian Wilson, who has just been fined his All-Star bonus for pimping Carlos Beltranless than a minute ago via TweetDeck Favorite Retweet Reply

I think if Brian Wilson making this announcement had any pull as to bringing Beltran to the Giants he'd be more than happy to pay it. Or the Giants front office would. Anyway you slice it the buzz around this possible trade is palpable, especially after traveling with the team after the Mets series in San Francisco right before the All-Star break.
