2011 Futures Game: A's Grant Green Drives In Giants Gary Brown With RBI Double

The Bay Area has quickly gotten involved in the 2011 XM All-Star Futures Game as the A's prospect Grant Green drove in Giants prospect Gary Brown with an RBI double. The double gave the US a 3-0 lead, which has subsequently been erased by the World team with four runs in the dixth inning.

Gary Brown started the rally with a two-out single off Martin Perez in the fifth inning. Grant Green then pinch hit for Jason Kipnis. Brown showed off his wheels as he stole second base and then advanced to third on a balk by Perez. The balk ended up not really mattering as Green drilled a double to left field to get the run. Green appeared to steal third base but it didn't matter as Tim Beckham struck out to end the inning.

The interesting note for Green was that he took over at second base for Kipnis in the sixth inning. While Green plays short stop for at Double-A Midland, his defense is the one area where he struggles immensely. Many scouts project him as a second baseman at the big league level.
