The first pitch of the 2011 Futures Game is scheduled for approximately 3:00pm pacific live at Chase Field in Arizona and starting lineups and pitchers are set for the US and World Team. The US will send out Diamondbacks prospect Tyler Skaggs to face Julio Teheran of the Braves system. The teams will play with a designated hitter, which will be James Darnell for the US team and Dayan Viciedo for the World team.
San Francisco Giants prospect Gary Brown will get the start in center field and hit ninth for an American team that is highlighted by a devastating Bryce Harper-Paul Goldschmidt middle of the order. Brown brings some serious speed to the bottom of the US batting order. While Brown normally hits in the leadoff position, hitting ninth gives the US a solid turn around the order to get it back to Kipnis at the top. Given the power presence on this team, it will be interesting to see how much hit and run they implement.
