MLB All-Star Game 2011: Will Pablo Sandoval Be Named To NL Roster?

Rumors are now circulating that Pablo Sandoval will soon be named to the National League roster for the 2011 MLB All Star Game this Tuesday at Chase Field in Phoenix. According to a tweet from Sandoval's brother, Panda will replace Placido Polanco on the roster. Polanco was voted in by the fans but is suffering from a stiff back. Aramis Ramirez was being considered but he already made plans to head home to the Dominican Republic during the break and is unavailable.

Sandoval joins third baseman Scott Rolen as an injury replacement. Rolen replaced Chipper Jones who recently went on the disabled list with a torn meniscus in his right knee. Sandoval missed the month of May with a fractured hamate bone in his right hand but is currently in the midst of a 20-game hitting streak that has his line at .305/.345/.505 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs. Since returning from the DL on June 14, Sandoval has been hitless in only one game and has 11 doubles in his last 14 games.
