The 2011 All Star Game festivities kick off Sunday afternoon live from Chase Field with the XM All-Star Futures Game and the Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game. The festivities get going at 3:00pm pacific on ESPN2 with the XM All-Star Futures Game. The annual contest features the top minor league talent in baseball squaring off in a US vs. World format. The Oakland Athletics will be represented in the 2011 Futures Game by Double-A shortstop Grant Green while the San Francisco Giants will be represented by Single-A outfielder Gary Brown.
The Futures Game will be followed at 6:30pm pacific by the Legends & Celebrity Softball Game. The softball game will not be broadcast on television at this point, although it wouldn't surprise me if the MLB Network rolled out some highlights (or maybe lowlights?) from the game Monday or Tuesday. The game will include Rickey Henderson and Rollie Fingers in as yet to be determined roles.
Both the Futures Game and the Legends & Celebrity Softball Game will be available via live online stream at ESPN3.com.
