Well all the dust has finally settled and the 2011 MLB Draft in in the books. The San Francisco Giants have made all their picks, 50 in total, with a nice variety of pitchers and positional players as well. The team used 22 of it's picks on right-handed pitchers alone, and eight more on left-handers; thats 2/3 of their picks devoted to pitching, obviously something the Giants feel is important.
They also drafted five shortstops and five center fielders, four catchers, three first basemen, three third basemen, two right fielders, one second baseman (picked 49th overall), and no left fielders. Why the team chose no left fielders I do not know, but if you look at the list as a whole you can pretty much see the Giants game plan going into the draft: heavy with arms, fill key positions for the future like shortstop and center field.
