Giants vs. Indians MLB Schedule Preview: Jonathan Sanchez Takes The Mound

The Cleveland Indians are in first place of the AL Central division, and the San Francisco Giants are looking for first place in the NL West. After getting brutalized by the Minnesota Twins in game one, the Giants came back to win games two and three, while the Indians were able to salvage a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies with a win in the finale after dropping the first two.

Jonathan Sanchez is taking the mound for the Giants, looking to get his first win in four starts. He's 0-2 in his preview three, including a loss to the Oakland Athletics in his most recent outing. Sanchez gave up all four runs in the 4-2 loss over 4 2/3 innings. He hasn't had scoreless outing in some time, giving up two or more runs in his last five games, sporting a 4-5 record in fifteen starts this year.

Cleveland is sending Carlos Carrasco to the mound, and he's riding a lot of momentum. He's won his last three games, and six of his last seven. His last outing was a win over the PIttsburgh Pirates, where he gave up one run in 6 1/3 innings. Before that, he had two scoreless outings and his 2011 record is 7-3 over 13 starts with a 3.87 earned run average.

Sanchez has faced the Indians once, in 2008, when he gave up run run while striking out eight batters in 7 2/3 innings. Carrasco has never faced the Giants in his career. The game is set for 7:15 p.m. pacific tonight.
