Giants vs. Cardinals, Schedule Preview: Tim Lincecum Looks to Continue His Dominance of Cardinals

After the San Francisco Giants suffered a late inning breakdown on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals, the team will be looking for some retribution this afternoon at Busch Stadium. And luckily for the G-Men, They’ll be sending out Tim Lincecum, who is currently on a bit of a hot streak.

Lincecum (5-4 2.22 ERA) comes into St. Louis on a two game wining streak, and has some success against the Red Birds historically. The Freak is 5-1 with a 2.23 ERA in six starts lifetime against them, and in his four starts at Busch Stadium, Lincecum is 3-1 with a 2.30 ERA. The Cards offense, which has the highest on base percentage in all of base baseball at .349, hasn’t been beating the cover off the ball this series like they usually do, and could be a good time for Timmy’s turn in the rotation against them.

St. Louis will send Jake Westbrook (5-3 5.19 ERA) to the mound today, who is riding a three game win streak of his own. He shut down the Rockies potent offense in his last start, limiting them to three runs in five innings of work on only five hits. The Giants offense will need to jump on Westbrook early if they want to get a win.

First pitch is set for 5:15 p.m. PT with coverage on ESPN, CSN Bay Area, and KNBR 680 AM.
