After Brandon Crawford’s fireworks last night for the San Francisco Giants, the team found themselves in another one of their patented low scoring pitcher’s duels in today’s matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers. It went down to the bottom of the ninth when Jonathan Lucroy’s perfect squeeze bunt ended the game in walk off fashion 3-2 at Miller Park.
The Brewers jumped out early with a Carlos Gomez inside the park homer in the first when Cody Ross lost the ball in the right field corner, followed by a Casey McGehee sacrifice fly in the fourth. Randy Wolf kept the Giants scoreless in his seven and 1/3 innings of work until Freddy Sanchez knocked him out of the game with an RBI grounder in the eighth, followed by a Pat Burrell single to tie the game.
Skipper Bruce Bochy decided to use Guillermo Mota (L 2-2) instead of Brian Wilson in the ninth, which eventually proved to be a bad decision after he walked the bases loaded, an was unable to field Lucroy’s bunt to end the game. With the bases loaded and only one out, the squeeze was a brillant move by Milwaukee skipper Ron Roenicke. As for Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez, he pitched well in his seven innings of work, allowing two runs on two hits, with four walks and eight strikeouts.

The Giants will finish up their series with the Brewers on Sunday with Matt Cain (3-3 3.53 ERA) scheduled for the Giants and Yovani Gallardo (6-2 4.35 ERA) for the Brew Crew. First pitch is at 11:10 PT tomorrow morning with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
