Well, the first installment of the Bay Bridge Series 2011 is drawing to a close. And with it, the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s have found themselves within a battle of attrition, with the Giants grinding out the last few games on their home turf. Now the A’s must play for some Bay Area pride to keep the Giants from sweeping the series, which would be their third home sweep in a row, and get a win for the fans on the other side of the Bay.
Trevor Cahill and Brett Anderson are serious pitchers, but the Giants still might have their toughest day against the A’s yet as Gio Gonzalez (5-2 2.31 ERA) is will take on Jonathan Sanchez (3-3 3.71 ERA) for the G-Men. This battle of lefties will likely be the third straight pitcher’s duel of this series, which means the A’s need to muster a few runs and keep away from the fielding errors if they want to get a win to stop their four game losing streak.
First pitch is set for 1:05 PT Sunday with coverage on CSN California, CSN Bay Area, KNBR 680 AM, and Sports Radio 95.7 FM.
