Giants vs. Nationals, MLB Schedule Preview: Giants Turn to Madison Bumgarner to Split Series With Nationals

Despite his 0-4 record and a 6.17 ERA, San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner has been showing signs of righting the ship, and hopefully can earn his first win of 2011 against the Washington Nationals this afternoon.

Bummy will square off with Tom Gorzelanny (0-2 3.97 ERA) for the Nats, who hasn’t exactly shot out of the starting gates either. These teams have gone back and forth throughout this entire series and now the best the Giants can do is hope to split the series 2-2 with a win this afternoon.

Bummy certainly could use some run support seeing, he threw a quality start of 6 innings pitched with one earned run and seven strikeouts in his last outing, but still got tabbed for a loss. Hopefully it won’t be like that this afternoon.

First ptich is set for 4:05 PT today, and can be found on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
