Giant vs. Dodgers, Schedule Preview: Giants Go For Short Sweep with Madison Bumgarner Still Searching for Win

The San Francisco Giants bizarre evening last night which saw three Giants injure themselves, Brian Wilson blow a save but still get a win, and Cody Ross showing flashes of his postseason form of last season in late spring. But the Giants got the only thing that mattered, a win, and will look for another one this evening against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Madison Bumgarner (0-6 4.25 ERA) has really gotten the short end of the stick this season, especially as of late. The kid has pitched well enough to win his past few starts but the team can’t seem to pick him up. Hopefully he can get that monkey off his back tonight with a win in Chavez Ravine. Bummy has a 0-2 record in May so far, but with a 1.89 ERA and a 5/18 BB/K ratio. He’s also got a 1.59 lifetime ERA ar Dodger Stadium, hopefully something to build on tonight.

For the Dodgers Chad BIllingsley (2-3 3.36 ERA) will be looking to forget his last start where he was the victim on a 1-0 loss to the Diamondbacks where Arizona only managed one hit the whole game, pitching eight innings with only the unearned run and the hit to his name. It was the first time since 1914 the Dodgers gave up only one hit to an opponent and still lost.

As for the injuries of last night: Brian Wilson should be fine with his twisted ankle and shouldn’t affect his playing time, Aaron Rowand is day-to-day with a stiff lower back, while Mark DeRosa is headed back to San Francisco to have a specialist look at his wrist, again. Hope DeRo can come back one of these days actually healthy.

First pitch tonight is set for 7:10 PT and can be found on CSN Bay Area or KNBR 680 AM.
