Giants vs. Dodgers, Schedule Preview: Giants Turn to Matt Cain to End Recent Skid

The Giants continue the last leg of their seven game round trip this evening against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and hopefully will be able to have some success against one of the Giants least favorite pitchers, Clayton Kershaw. Luckily they’ll be sending out a stud of their own in Matt Cain as a likely pitcher’s duel is brewing at Dodger Stadium tonight.

Cain (3-2 3.22 ERA) pitched 6 scoreless innings last time he was in L.A., leading to an eventual 10-0 win for the G-Men. Kershaw ( 5-3 2.75 ERA) on the other hand pitched 7 scoreless against San Francisco on opening day, a 2-1 Dodgers victory. With these guys on the mound any mistake or miscue will be magnified as strategic scoring and execution will be of the highest priority. One or two runs will likely decide this game, which will definitely play into the Giants hands seeing that 33 of their first 40 games were decided by 3 runs or fewer.

The Giants relinquished first place in Colorado, now they must keep the Dodgers from gaining ground as well, starting tonight.

First pitch is set for 7:10 this evening with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
