Giants vs Cubs, Schedule Preview: Looking For Seventh in a Row, Madison Bumgarner Looking for One

The San Francisco Giants begin another long road trip today as they’re in the Windy City to take on the Chicago Cubs. And after their perfect 6-0 homestand the G-Men will be eyeing their seventh win in a row at Wrigley Field this afternoon, with Madison Bumgarner still searching for a win of his own.

At 0-5 with a 4.21 ERA, Bummy has been handed the misfortune of little to no run support in a majority of his outings as well as a few rough starts early in the season. He’s now had two straight quality starts but still has a goose egg in the win column, despite owning the lowest ERA in the NL since April 27th at 0.95. Hopefully he can get that monkey off his back this afternoon.

Ryan Dempster (1-4 7.20 ERA) hasn’t fared much better though, losing two of his last 3 starts including giving up 7 earned runs in .1 inning of work against the Diamondbacks at the end of April. He’s been sort of a Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde pitcher this season, the question is which one will show up this afternoon?

First pitch is set for 11:20 PT this morning and can be found on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
