Giants vs. Nationals, MLB Schedule Preview: Giants Offense Looking to Pick Up Matt Cain

After the San Francisco Giants topped the Washington Nationals yesterday in an all around weird game, the G-Men will be looking to have a more traditional win this afternoon; one that right hander Matt Cain is hoping comes with a lot less walks thrown and a lot more runs scored in his favor.

Cain (2-1 3.34 ERA) is set to take on the Nats Jordan Zimmerman (1-4 4.55 ERA) in an early afternoon game in the Nation’s capitol, meaning a matinee matchup for those on the left coast. Cain is 4-3 with a 3.41 ERA in 10 career starts against Washington, with 5 of those as quality starts and 8 times lasting longer than 6 innings.

The Giants sporadic offense will hopefully make an appearance today at National’s Park, as the Giants currently have the 3rd worst runs per game margarin in the NL at 3.73, trailing only the Padres and Piirates in that category.

First pitch is set for 10:35 PT this morning, and can be seen on CSN Bay Area and heard on KNBR 680 AM.
