Giants vs. Padres, MLB Schedule Preview: Brian Wilson Activated From DL, Hopes to Pitch Against Padres Today

The San Francisco Giants all-star closer Brian Wilson has been activated from the disabled list today and will look to get in some action this afternoon at Petco Park against the San Diego Padres. Wilson has been rehabilitating a strained oblique muscle since March 30th, but was retroactively placed on the DL March 22nd so his 15 day stint ends today.

In other pitching news reliever Santiago Casilla has been placed on the 15 day DL due to a sore pitching elbow reports Giants beat writer Andrew Baggarly. Casilla claimed that his elbow has been ‘cranky’ lately, and hasn’t made an appearance since opening day last week in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.

As for today’s game, Tim Lincecum (0-1) will be on the mound for his second start of the season and will face the Padres opening day starter Tim Stauffer (0-0). The G-Men will be looking to split their two game series in San Diego after their 3-1 loss yesterday, even though some overcast skies and drizzles of rain may threaten to delay or postpone today’s game.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:35 this afternoon and can be seen on CSN Bay Area and heard on KNBR 680 AM. For more discussion and analysis of everything Giants, head over to McCovey Chronicles to get in on the action.
