Tommy Hanson and the Atlanta Braves made sure the San Francisco Giants short home stand got off to sour start last night, taking out the defending champs 4-1. Now the Giants will send out their ace Tim Lincecum (2-1 1.67 ERA) to face the Braves Tim Hudson (2-2 4.05 ERA) looking to return the favor.
The G-Men have won their last four series after their 1-4 start against the Dodgers opening weekend, and will have to take the next two to extend that streak to 5 against the Braves. The Giants were swinging the lumber in those series, hitting 12 home runs over their last eight games. Their bats remained silent for the most part last night, but hopefully will send a souvenir or two out to the cheap seats this afternoon.
Timmy’s been off to a great start, and loves facing the Braves. In his 8 previous starts against them he is 6-2 with a 2.89 ERA. Not to mention his 14 strikeout, 2 hitter he threw against them to start the NLDS last fall. Let’s hope he’s on his A game today, beacuse when he is, the Braves usually aren’t.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PT and can be seen on the FOX network and heard on KNBR 680 AM, KIQI, and KATD 990.
