San Francisco Giants News: Bochy on Belt, Zito's Foot, Ross Set to Return

When San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy was asked about the status of rookie Brandon Belt today,it was pretty clear that he has all but has made up his mind. As reported by Andrew Baggarly, Bochy sat down with Belt and talked to him about his situation, though what was said is not known. Belt is batting .200 so far this season though his defense has been solid, but his aggressiveness at the plate is definitely in question. The team will likely make a decision on his future tomorrow.

Bochy’s take:

"I think there is a fine line there, especially if you’re a little late. He had some pretty good pitches to hit and he’s been a little late. That tells you he hasn’t been quite aggressive enough."

Mychael Urban of CSN Bay Area reported that Barry Zito made a trip to a Bay Area Podiatrist today for more x-rays and tests on his injured foot. X-rays still showed no breaks, but Zito will be in an immobilization boot and walking on crutches for the time being. This is his first stint on the DL ever in his major league career, and is projected to miss at least two starts.

Cody Ross is playing a full nine innings with AAA Fresno today, and if all goes well will be activated off the DL tomorrow. Ross has reported no pain or soreness in his injured calf, and as long as he doesn’t have a setback will likely be with the team in Denver tomorrow.
