Giants vs. Dodgers, MLB Scores: Giants Offense Wakes Up, Outlasts Dodgers 5-4

It was a back and forth battle this evening at a chilly AT&T Park as the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers traded blows inning by inning, but the G-Men eventually came out on top by a score of 5-4.

Tim Lincecum lasted 5 1/3 innings in his 2011 home debut, allowing 6 hits, 3 earned runs, a walk, and four strikeouts. Timmy was pulled with the bases loaded in the 6th, but Guillermo Mota got out of the inning unscathed. Jeremy Affeldt (1-0) gave up a tying home run to Marcus Thames in the 7th but got the win anyway, Sergio Romo pitched a perfect eighth, while Brian Wilson came in for his first save of the season, striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth.

Buster Posey had great night, hitting two, two-out RBI singles, finishing the game 3-4. Aaron Rowand was locked in as well, going 2-4 with an RBI and a triple to start off the bottom of the seventh, eventually scoring the winning run on a wild pitch by Blake Hawksworth (1-1), taking the loss for the game . Pablo Sandoval went 1-4 with an RBI single, moving his average to .368 for the season thus far.

Chad Billingsley started out hot, but the Giants started to get to him, knocking him out after 5 innings; he allowed 7 hits, 4 earned runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Matt Kemp continued his hot start going 2-2 with 2 walks and an RBI, while former Giant Juan Uribe went 1-4 with an RBI double.

Full box score can be found here.

The Giants will finish up their series with the Dodgers tomorrow night as Jonathan Sanchez (0-1 2.53 ERA) takes the mound for the G-Men facing Ted Lilly (0-1 6.00 ERA) for the Dodgers. First pitch will be at 7:15 and can be seen on NBC Bay Area and heard on KNBR 680 AM.
