Well, the dog days of Spring Training have officially arrived, that time of the preseason before the games start getting more competitive and the players have to maintain their focus through games that are utterly meaningless. But today we have a Clash of former Cy Young winners as Barry Zito and the San Francisco Giants square off with Jake Peavy and the Chicago White Sox at Scottsdale Stadium this afternoon.
I’m sure most Giants fans would remember just how filthy Peavy was when he was a San Diego Padre, and he still has plenty left in the tank. Zito’s Spring Training has been filled with rumors and critique, but the curveballin’ former Cy Young’er is always a consummate professional, even when he’s riding the pine in the postseason. This will hopefully prove to be a nice pitchers duel between these two today, well, for 3 or 4 innings at least.
