Giants v. Rangers, Spring Training Preview: World Series Rematch in Meaningless Form

Tonight’s matchup of the San Francisco Giants and Texas Rangers is the first meeting of these two teams since November 1, 2010, the last meaningful game for either of these teams. And although it’s only Spring Training and this game is essentially meaningless, it’s still a chance to remember last season’s epic culmination at the Rangers expense.

Tonight is the first televised game of the Giants Cactus League season, with the first pitch scheduled at 6:05 PT (7:05 MT) on CSN Bay Area, as well as mlb.tv (for paid subscribers). Mike Krukow and Duane Kiper will get the call as Jonathan Sanchez will start for the Giants and Alexi Ogando will get the start for the Rangers. Here are the lineups:

Giants:
CF Andres Torres
2B Freddy Sanchez
3B Pablo Sandoval
RF Cody Ross
LF Pat Burrell
SS Mark DeRosa
1B Brandon Belt,
DH Travis Ishikawa
C Chris Stewart
P Jonathan Sanchez

Rangers:
2B Ian Kinsler
SS Elvis Andrus
LF Josh Hamilton
RF Nelson Cruz
DH Michael Young
1B Mitch Moreland
C Matt Treanor
3B Chris Davis
CF Julio Borbon
P Alexi Ogando

That’s a lot of guys that played in the World Series, should be a nice day to reminisce and bask in the glory of last season’s championship.
