San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, Season Opener: ESPN TV Schedule, Announcers

The San Francisco Giants open up their defense as World Series champions against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at 5:00 p.m. Pacific on ESPN. The announcers at Dodgers Stadium for the game will be Dan Shulman, Orel Hershiser and Bobby Valentine. This crew will also be covering the Sunday, April 3 series conclusion of the game. The Saturday matchup will be broadcast on FOX with Kenny Albert and Eric Karros providing the announcing.

I personally am a big fan of Bobby Valentine as he usually brings straight forward, honest opinions. When he left to return to the Japanese baseball league I felt ESPN took a step backward in their baseball coverage. Orel Hershiser can be a bit wishy-washy at times, but he is a very knowledgeable former player. As for Dan Shulman, he’s fairly solid. A quality play-by-play guy will guide us through the game but really leave things open for the color guys to provide the important analysis.

We’ll be here all weekend for the Giants-Dodgers series. Head over to McCovey Chronicles for more in-depth discussion about the Giants.
