Giants v. A's, 2011 Spring Training Scores: Giants Top A's 4-3 in Bay Bridge Exhibition Series

For the first time since last October the San Francisco Giants played under the lights of AT&T Park, carrying over their postseason success to their exhibition matchup with the Oakland A’s. Thanks to an Aubrey Huff homer in the 5th the Giants got the 4-3 win over Oakland to even up the preseason battle of the Bay at 2 games apiece.

Matt Cain looked good in his 5 1/3 innings of work tonight allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 6 strikeouts and only one walk, a much improved outing from the 5 run, 3 inning appearance he made against the Anaheim Angels earlier this week. Steve Edelfsen, Santiago Casilla, and Jeremy Affeldt pitched a scoreless 2 2/3 combined, while Sergio Romo got the 1-2-3 save in the ninth, replacing the injured Brain Wilson who will likely start the season on the DL.

Aside from Aubrey’s moon shot to right field, the Giants also got some production from Pat Burrell’s 2 RBI double in the 3rd, and a Buster Posey groundout that scored Andres Torres in the 1st. Posey and Huff each finished the day 2-3 at the plate.

PANDA WATCH: Pablo went 0-2 for the day which included getting beaned in the shoulder by Brett Anderson in the 4th. Pablo ended the game in the 9th with a terrific back-pedaling grab in left field foul territory showing off his increased quickness and range with his glove.

The Giants head across the Bay Bridge tomorrow to take on the A’s at Oakland Coliseum. Barry Zito will get the start for the Giants against Gio Gonzalez for the A’s with the first pitch coming at 7:05 p.m. You can find the game on KNBR 680 as well as KFRC.
