GIants v. Reds, 2011 Spring Training Scores: Giants End Losing Streak With 9-6 Win Over Reds

The San Francisco Giants offense finally showed up, Timmy did just enough, and the G-Men ended their 5 game losing streak with a 9-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

In his probable last appearance of the preseason Tim Lincecum got a bit roughed up today, allowing 6 runs on 11 hits including two home runs, one of which came from the bat of former Giants Fred Lewis. He struck out three and walked one as well allowing a run to score on an uncharacteristic balk in the 5th.

The Giants offense finally showed some of the form it had a few weeks earlier, scoring their 9 runs on 12 Giants hits. Andres Torres launched a towering shot that was originally thought to be a homer, but actually fell in the shadow before the left field wall and Torres was somewhat comically tagged out trotting the bases. Torres continued his nice day in the Giants 6 RBI 6th inning as he battled with Reds gunslinger Aroldis Chapman for another RBI double. Torres finished the day 3-4 with 4 RBIs.

PANDA WATCH: Pablo was 1-3 today with an RBI, hitting a single and scoring a sacrifice fly in the 6th. He also showed some speed going from first to third on a Miguel Tejada double in the 5th.

The Giants still have another game tonight against the Cleveland Indians with the other side of their split squad at Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, AZ. San Francisco will play the Kansas City Royals tomorrow for their last Cactus League game before their exhibition games in the Bay area.
