Giants v. Dodgers, 2011 Spring Training Scores: Dodgers Snap Giants Win Streak 6-3

The San Francisco Giants recent success over their rival Los Angeles Dodgers (and the rest of the Cactus League) came to an end today as the Dodgers finally beat the Giants by a score of 6-3.

Jeff Suppan had a decent outing today as he lasted four innings allowing seven hits, two runs, and two strikeouts, although he did allow a run to score in a wild pitch in the first. Suppan was followed by Ryan Vogelsong who went for three innings allowing four hits, two runs, one walk, and three strikeouts; Vogelsong, like Suppan, is a contender to make the regular season squad and wil both get a lot of work for the rest of the preseason. Javier Lopez pitched a perfect eighth, but Guillermo Mota gave up back-to-back homers to ex-Giant Eugenio Velez and Xavier Paul in the ninth for some Dodger insurance.

The Giants was sparse today, coming from a 5th inning double by Mike Fontenot that scored Aaron Rowand and Travis Ishikawa, and a Ryan Rohlinger triple in the eighth that scored Chirs Stewart.

The Giants will host the Kansas City Royals tomorrow at Scottsdale Stadium with the first pitch slated for 1:05 p.m. Coverage can be found on KNBR 680 with the pregame show starting at 12:50.
