It was another picture perfect day under the Arizona sunshine with the San Francisco Giants taking on the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, and it was just as nice getting to actually watch the game on TV. And with Brandon Belt looking ready for the show and Timmy on the mound for longer than 3 innings, what more could you ask for?
Oh yeah, a win, which the Giants got 5-3.
Lincecum had a nice outing as he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 run, and 3 walks, but still managed to strikeout 7 batters. Dan Runzler gave up a 2 run homer in the 7th in his 1 2/3 innings of work, Javy Lopez had a perfect 8th and Ramon Ramirez closed it out in the 9th.
Brad Eldred got the Giants on the board in the 4th with a bloop single, then in the 6th Brandon Belt hit a homer to left center field followed by an Eli Whiteside RBI single. Belt continued his excellent day with a RBI double in the 7th, later scoring off a double from Nate Schierholtz. In other news Aaron Rowand went 0-4, looking more and more ready for the minor leagues everyday.
Brandon Belt had some really good at bats today, especially against Mark Buehrle. He worked the count full both times, getting a walk and a single out of it; Although he did get picked off at first by him as well, that dude has a mean pickoff move. He also knocked the ball away from catcher A.J. Pierzynski when he scored in the 7th.
The Giants will head back to Scottsdale tomorrow for another game under the lights as they take on that other team from Los Angeles, the Angels. First pitch is at 7:05 with coverage only on MLB.com (for paid subscribers). Stay with SB Nation Bay Area for everything Giants, including coverage of tomorrow’s game.
