Giants v. Padres, 2011 Spring Training Preview: Timmy Faces Latos as Giants Take on Rival Padres

For the first time in their 2011 Cactus League schedule the San Francisco Giants will take on their NL West rival San Diego Padres at the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona. It will be another battle of the aces as Tim Lincecum will face the astonishingly arrogant Mat Latos.

The Giants currently hold the best record in all of Spring Training at 11-4, and are looking to continue their success against a Padre team that gave the G-Men nothing but fits last season. Manager Bud Black decided to bring his ‘A’ team to the park today, using most of his regular season starters in the lineup, while is hoping that Latos will get his first decent showing of the preseason; he’s 0-0 with 6 walks and no strikeouts so far with an ERA of over 13.00.

Padres lineup:
RF Will Venable
2B Orlando Hudson
1B Jorge Cantu
LF Ryan Ludwick
3B Chase Headley
SS Jason Bartlett
CF Eric Patterson
C Guillermo Quiroz
P Mat Latos

And now, your San Francisco Giants:

SS Mike Fontenot
3B Pablo Sandoval
LF Travis Ishikawa

RF Nate Schierholtz
