Giants v Reds, 2011 Spring Training Scores: Giants Win 7-0 Behind 3 HR, Bumgarner Dominance

Madison Bumgarner pitched an excellent four innings, the offense hit three homers in one inning, and the San Francisco Giants cruise to another Cactus League victory against the Cincinnati Reds 7-0 in Goodyear Stadium in Goodyear, Arizona.

Andres Torres, Freddy Sanchez, and Cody Ross all hit homers in the third inning, giving the Giants a comfortable cushion early on in the game. Pat Burrell Emmanuel Burriss added an RBI single in the 7th, while Ryan Rohlinger had and RBI double in the 8th. PAt Burrell also had a nice day going 2-2 with a walk.

Madison Bumgarner was lights out for his four innings of work, facing the minimum amount of batters (12) with only one hit, no walks, and six strikeouts. Bummy was follwed by Santiago Casilla, Javy Lopez, Jeremy Affeldt, Serdio Romo, and Steve Edelfsen, who all successfully preserved the 5 hit shutout. It was the first shutout of the Giants Cactus League schedule thus far.

It was the first time Giants fan got to see World Series MVP Edgar Renteria in a Reds uniform, who was greeted with a standing ovation form Giants fans when he came to the plate. Very nice gesture, Giants fans are simply the best.

Another big pitcher’s duel is scheduled for tomorrow as the Giants take on the rival San DIego Padres at the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona. It will be Tim Lincecum facing the Padres’ Mat Latos, with the first pitch slated for 6:05 PT (7:05 MT) and will be televised (hooray!) on NBC Bay Area.
