San Francisco Giants Spring Training: Giants Face Dodgers in Split Squad Action

The San Francisco Giants have kept their winning mentality of last year intact thus far into the Cactus League Schedule (1 game) and look to continue their hot streak against a split squad Los Angeles Dodgers team this afternoon at 12:05 PT (1:05 MT) at Scottsdale Stadium in Arizona.

Jonathan Sanchez will get the start for the Giants while Tim Redding is slated for the start for the Dodgers despite being sent home from camp on Friday with an apparent flu. Like yesterday’s match between the Arizona Diammondback, bot the Giants and Dodgers will use a DH to save their pitchers, with the lineups for both teams as follows:

GIANTS

1) Andres Torres CF
2) Mark DeRosa 2B
3) Aubrey Huff 1B
4) Pablo Sandoval 3B
5) Nate Schierholtz RF
6) Travis Ishikawa DH
7) Mike Fontenot SS
8) Thomas Neal LF
9) Chris Stewart C

DODGERS

1) Tony Gwynn CF
2) Jamey Carroll SS
3) James Loney 1B
4) Rod Barajas C
5) Marcus Thames DH
6) Xavier Paul LF
7) Gabe Kapler RF
8) Ivan de Jesus 2B
9) Aaron Miles 3B

The Game will be broadcast live on KNBR 680 as well as MLB.tv (if you are a subscriber). Regardless of if the Giants play the Dodgers in the end or September or the end of February, you know they don’t want to lose to them. And considering the Dodgers only have half their team playing the Giants while the other half plays their cross town rivals the Angels (wow the Dodgers are really starting off with some venom-filled meaningless games). Should be a good time had by all, hope you can catch the game.
