The wait is over. It’s finally here.
The San Francisco Giants are ready to kick off their 2011 season today as they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks at Scottsdale Stadium. You can listen to the game live at 12:05 PT (1:05 MT) on KNBR 680 or watch on MLB.tv (with purchase of a MLB.tv regular season package). For the majority of you that don’t have MLB.tv (it is rather expensive) you can get your fix for Giants Spring Training action on the MLB Network or CSN Bay Area starting March 11th.
Tim Lincecum will get the start for the Giants and will square off against Arizona’s Joe Saunders. Even with both teams being from the National League a DH will be used for this game, with Andres Torres getting the nod for the Giants. A few key players will sit out for the G-Men; Aubrey Huff is nursing a sore wrist but will play in tomorrow’s game, and Freddy Sanchez who is rehabilitating his surgically repaired shoulder will start taking live BP tomorrow and is recovering nicely.
Bochy’s starters for the Giants will be:
1B: Travis Ishikawa
2B: Mark DeRosa
SS: Miguel Tejada
3B: Pablo Sandoval
LF: Pat Burrell
CF: Aaron Rowand
RF: Cody Ross
C: Buster Posey
P: Tim Lincecum
