The San Francisco Giants have announced that they will extend the contract for General Manager Brian Sabean and Manager Bruce Bochy according to a press release from the team on Tuesday. Both men were instrumental in the Giants winning the 2010 World Series, and both are now safe contract-wise through the end of the 2013 series, along with a club option for 2014.

Sabean, now entering his 16th year as GM of the Giants is the longest tenured active GM in baseball today, while Bochy enters his 18th season as a skipper. CEO Larry Bear spoke on the extension Tuesday:

"Brian and Bruce are certainly two of the finest professionals at their respective positions in all of baseball. They have effectively built and fostered a winning tradition at all levels of our organization. I have no doubt that they will achieve continued success for the Giants in the coming years and beyond."

The Giants finished this past season four games out of the wild card slot, which the St. Louis Cardinals used to win the World Series. The Giants finished eight games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West Division.
