As the San Francisco Giants continue their push towards a playoff spot, other folks are benefiting. While the team has been playing to 90% and 91% capacity the last two nights at AT&T Park, Comcast Sports Net Bay Area has been a big winner. In last night's Giants victory over the Diamondbacks, the game set an all-time record for a Giants game television rating. The game did a 9.25 average household rating, grabbing approximately 233,500 households. From 9:45 to 10 p.m. the game brought in approximately 288,000 households with an 11.41 peak rating. The previous high was on Aug. 7, 2007 when Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron's all-time home run record.
The ratings increase has also carried over to other CSN programming including the Giants pre- and post-game shows, as well as SportsNet Central. The Giants will need to win at least one game against the Padres this weekend to clinch the division, which should mean boosted ratings for CSN over the weekend.
The Giants are currently battling the Diamondbacks on CSN Bay Area. After the jump I've posted the CSN schedule for the upcoming weekend Padres series.
