Matt Cain Pitches Well, Giants Get Win Over Rockies

Matt Cain got the run support he oh-so-desired in the Giants 4-2 win to take the series two games to one over the Rockies. Cain gave up three hits, including a two-run homer over a complete nine innings while striking out eight. It was his 12th career complete game and his fourth this season. Cain picked up his fourth straight win for the Giants.

The Giants are now tied for the NL West lead again, with probable cause to be ahead by the end of the night depending on how the Padres fare against the Reds (at the time of this, down five in the eighth inning), and are ahead in the wild card for sure as the Braves dropped a game today was well.

The Rockies now fall back four and a half games of the NL West lead. Jorge De La Rosa got the loss for the Rockies.

Freddy Sanchez and Cody Ross both homered in the victory. The Giants now host the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game series, again, a crucial series.
