Giants-Phillies NLCS Game 6: Madson Works Around Sanchez Double

Ryan Madson has been dominant in the NLCS having struck out six straight batters at one point. The Giants were unable to get any runs off Madson in the seventh inning, although they did force him to work and potentially keep him from coming out in the eighth. Madson struck out Travis Ishikawa and Andres Torres to start the inning. Freddy Sanchez then hit a double down the left field line.

Due to Madson’s strength against right handed hitters, the Phillies intentionally walked Aubrey Huff so that Madson could face the rookie right hander Buster Posey. The plan worked for the Phillies as Madson forced a Posey grounder to second, where Chase Utley flipped to Jimmy Rollins for the third out of the inning.

The Giants are sending out lefty Javier Lopez in the bottom of the seventh to face Placido Polanco, Chase Utley, and Ryan Howard.
