Giants-Phillies NLCS Game 6: Bumgarner On In Relief Escapes Rollins, Howard Hits

Giants rookie starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner was called on in relief in the fifth inning and escaped a couple of Phillies hits to keep the game tied at 2. Jimmy Rollins singled to start the inning. Bumgarner forced Placido Polanco and Chase Utley to fly out to center field before Ryan Howard crushed a double into left-center field. The ball caromed perfectly off the fence to Andres Torres who got the ball in quickly enough to force Rollins to hold at third. Bumgarner escaped the inning on a Victorino grounder.

Roy Oswalt will return in the top of the sixth inning having thrown 77 pitches. The Giants hits are adding up but they have stranded numerous runners and have been unable to take a lead and break this game open against Oswalt.
