Giants-Phillies NLCS Game 4: Sandoval, Giants Waste Opportunity To Blow Game Open

The San Francisco Giants had a huge opportunity to go for the throat against the Phillies after loading the bases with only one out. Instead, Pablo Sandoval grounded into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning and keep the Phillies comeback hopes alive. Sandoval led the league in double plays this season so it wasn’t exactly a shocking result.

Since Javier Lopez’s spot in the order didn’t come up, the Giants will send him out to face Ryan Howard in the eighth inning. It will be interesting to see if Lopez also faces Jayson Werth, or if the Giants go with Brian Wilson for a 5-out save. They also have Ramon Ramirez available.
