Giants-Phillies NLCS Game 3: Javier Lopez Retires Side In Eighth Inning

The Giants received a clutch performance from lefty specialist Javier Lopez who retired the heart of the Phillies order, sending Chase Utley, Placido Polanco, and Ryan Howard back to the bench on nine pitches. The Giants had closer Brian Wilson ready to come on if Lopez couldn’t get past Howard, but a 4-out save will not be necessary. Lopez forced Chase Utley to pop up to second, Polanco to ground out to third, and Howard to strike out swinging.

The Giants remain up 3-0 and will send out Wilson to lock down Game 3 in the ninth inning.
