Giants-Phillies NLCS Game 2: Sanchez Settles Down, Giants Trail 1-0

Ryan Howard of the Phillies managed the first hit of the game off either pitcher, a long double off Jonathan Sanchez. However, the two out hit did not hurt the Giants as Sanchez worked out of the inning. He’s struck out five Phillies through three innings and thrown 57 pitches. Considering he three 35 pitches in the first inning, twenty pitches over the next two innings couldn’t have come at a better time.

Of course, if the Giants can’t get any hits off Roy Oswalt, it won’t make much of a difference. Oswalt has struck out five and walked one, as we’re looking at a potentially impressive pitching duel.
