The dream of dueling no-hitters was erased by Ryan Howard in the bottom of the second inning as he hit a shot to right for a lead-off double. Tim Lincecum worked his way around the double to give up no runs in the inning and maintain the 0-0 ballgame. He struck out Jayson Werth and then forced Jimmy Rollins to pop out to second and Raul Ibanez to fly out to center field.
