Dashon Goldson has made a name for himself in his five years as a member of the San Francisco 49ers, and it appears that some of the team's most notable onlookers -- namely Hall-of-Famer Ronnie Lott -- have also taken notice.
↵Lott recently told the San Jose Mercury News in an interview, "I'm surprised that he doesn't have a long-term contract," he said. "He's an asset that you don't want to get away because he does everything the right way. He has all the intangibles you want on your team."
↵The 49ers have been mum on their plans to retain the former Washington Huskies star and 2007 fourth round pick, and they could potentially lose him if they allow him to test the free agent waters. Goldson has stated that he won't allow his contract to take away his focus on the field, and continues to remain a key component of the 49ers highly-touted defense.
↵San Francisco is 2-0 on the year, and Goldson has been a big part of the team's hot start, demonstrating the form that helped him make his first NFL Pro Bowl appearance a season ago.
