49ers Vs. Chargers: Colin Kaepernick Shines, 49ers Dominate In 35-3 Win

The San Francisco 49ers finished their preseason with a 35-3 win over the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night at Candlestick Park.

Second-string quarterback Colin Kaepernick led the 49ers to a 21-0 lead at halftime. Kaepernick threw two touchdowns, completing 12-for-18 passes for 158 yards. The 49ers defense also impressed, forcing two turnovers in the first quarter and holding the Chargers to just one field goal in the entire game.

In the Chargers' opening drive, 49ers safety CJ Spillman stripped the football from Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, leading to an eventual 32-yard touchdown pass from Kaepernick to Delanie Walker. The 49ers regained possession of the football on the subsequent drive after 49ers safety Darcel McBath intercepted a Phillip Rivers pass.ers Quarterback

Alex Smith and running back Frank Gore did not see any action on Thursday night.

The 49ers open up their season on September 9th against the Green Bay Packers.
