San Francisco 49ers Roster Cuts: Niners Trim Team Down To 75 Players

The San Francisco 49ers have made the next round of cuts they had to make for the Monday deadline. NFL league rules stipulate that the team must hit the 75-man roster limit by today at 1 PM Pacific, so the 49ers had to take 12 players off their team.

David Fucillo reports on the roster cuts at Niners Nation. The 12 players cut were defensive end Matthew Masifilo (one of Jim Harbaugh's players back at Stanford) defensive tackle Patrick Butrym, defensive backs Ben Hannula and Cory Nelms, wide receiver Joe Hastings, cornerback Deante Purvis, kicker Giorgio Tavecchio, tight end Joe Sawyer, offensive lineman Jason Slowey, fullback Cameron Bell, and wide receiver Brian Tyms.

The 49ers still have one more deadline to meet: The final roster cut that'll determine the 53 man roster. That move must be made before Opening Day. The 49ers will have to decide which 22 players will be left off the team and which ones will end up on the practice squad.
